Call for Papers | Special issue on “Wolves in a Changing World”

Wildlife Biology is proud to be the official outlet of the International Wolf Symposium 2026!

The journal hereby invites papers for a Special Issue, as an outcome of the International Wolf Symposium 2026 in Minneapolis, MN, USA. You do not have to attend the conference in order to submit a paper.

Date: October 22 - 25, 2026.

Theme: Wolves in a Changing World

Subthemes:

  • Wolf Ecology, Behavior and Genetics

  • Wolf Management and Policy

  • Wolf-Human Conflict and Coexistence

  • Communication, Education and Outreach

This special Issue welcomes high-quality theoretical, empirical, and practical articles on all aspects of wolf science, from wolf ecology and behavior to the social and governance dimensions of wolf management.

Note that papers included in a special issue are on average more downloaded and read than an average paper. By being part of a special issue, your research will get greater visibility and outreach, and ultimately more citations.

Submissions should adhere to the journal's formatting and citation style guidelines. All manuscripts will undergo peer review by experts in the field to ensure scientific rigor and quality. Please note that by submitting a paper to a special issue does not guarantee acceptance of the paper.

Once a paper is ready, it will be published on Early View, and therefore does not have to wait on publication until all papers in the Special Issue are ready.

Wildlife Biology—who are we?

WILDLIFE BIOLOGY: Journal for Wildlife Research, Management, and Conservation is an Open Access journal owned by the Nordic Society Oikos.

Our journal promotes a scientific basis for the conservation and management of wildlife and human-wildlife relationships. We adopt a broad concept of wildlife management to safeguard sustainable relationships between wildlife and other human interests. This includes all policies and actions with the purpose of conservation, sustainable use, or control of wildlife and its habitats. We welcome theoretical, empirical, and practical articles from all areas of wildlife science.
